At some point of time, everyone deserves a break from their chaotic daily life. And the only way to escape from the same is a pleasant vacation with your loved ones. There are plenty of beautiful destinations in the world where you can spend a blissful holiday.

When my boss decided to take the much-deserved break with his wife, I had the honor and responsibility of putting it together for them. It was a 7-day trip to Georgia, and I am glad it turned out to be a great one.

I had to give in quite a thought and effort in planning the Georgia trip for both. From selecting the holiday destination, customizing the itinerary to booking hotels and flights, I knew I wanted the best for them.

After good research on online travel agencies (OTA), I found Myholidays to be the best fit and quickly reached out to its team. The executive shared several UAE to Georgia tour packages as per my requirement.

With careful consideration, I picked the tour package and got a little customization done. And the moment their bookings were confirmed, I could already imagine the stories they would return. When they did, those stories didn’t disappoint. Rather they got me all excited and I know Georgia is where I am heading for my next vacation.

As I sat listening to my boss narrate their travel story, I could not help but be drawn into every detail. “Georgia, as they say, has magic in its air. And we totally agree with it,” he said.

Georgia gave them a holiday filled with history, relaxation, adventure, and romance. And their experience made me realize how careful planning of a trip can turn a moment into a lifetime memory.

But none of it would have been possible without Myholidays. From premium accommodations and travel arrangements to guided tours and activities, everything was taken care of by them. I was stress-free, and so were my boss and his wife.

In short, the Georgia trip was a hit, packed with incredible experiences, happy moments, and a lot of stories to tell – which I will surely listen to from my boss or his wife. For now, I definitely know Georgia is where I am going on my next vacation!

Until I have my own travel story to share, let me pen down the experiences of my boss and his wife on their trip to Georgia, and how Myholidays made it all the more special for them. Read on...

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi – Georgia Adventure Begins Here!

Arrival in Tbilisi

The journey started from Zayed International Airport (AUH), where they arrived about 2 hours before the scheduled flight. After smooth check-in formalities at the airport, they boarded a direct flight from Abu Dhabi to Tbilisi, which took 3 hours 20 minutes to land at the destination city.

At the exit of the airport, they had a driver waiting for them already. He transferred them to the 5-star Paragraph Freedom Square Luxury Collection Hotel, which I had carefully chosen for them and prebooked with Georgia tour packages from Myholidays.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff served them some refreshing drinks. After a quick and smooth check-in, they were escorted to their Deluxe Twin Room to rest and refresh. They loved the accommodation – it was so spacious and luxurious. And the best part, it offered stunning views of the city.

After a traditional Georgian dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, they enjoyed a relaxing nightstay in their room.

Day 2: City Tour of Tbilisi – The Capital of Georgia

City Tour of Tbilisi

Their first morning in Tbilisi began with a lot of excitement and happy smiles! After having breakfast at the hotel, both of them got ready, and stepped out for the Tbilisi City Tour.

When they reached the lobby, a tour guide and driver were already waiting for them there. Without any delay, they hopped into our air-conditioned car and left for the exploration day.

The city tour kickstarted from Old Tbilisi (Dzveli Tbilisi), which was barely a 5-minute drive from the hotel.

They visited Metekhi Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, commonly known as ‘Metekhi’. Sitting atop a hill, this 13th-century church is a symbol of the city’s rich cultural and religious heritage. The views of the Kura River flowing nearby and Meidan Square (the entrance of Tbilisi Old Town) on the opposite side are remarkable. My boss and his better spent some moments enjoying the surrounding views and took a lot of pictures before leaving the spot!

Then, they proceeded to Rike Park and walked over the Bridge of Peace to reach the Old Town. The 156-metre-long, steel footbridge with an LED-embedded glass canopy is truly an architectural marvel. While crossing the bridge, the views of Narikala Fortress, Metekhi Church, Kura River, and the city’s stunning skyline were remarkable.

Right in the heart of Old Town stands the Clock Tower (Gabriadze Clock Tower), also known as the Leaning Tower of Tbilisi. Tucked into the structure of Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theater, it was described as one of the most bizarre structures they have seen. But whatever – it looked amazing. The most intriguing part about the tower was that every hour an angel figure strikes the bell with a hammer, which has left the couple amazed and wondering till now.

Then, they walked through the famous Shardeni Street, which was bustling with vibrant energy of lively crowds. The street is lined with historic and modern buildings that house restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, and nightlife avenues. Later, they stepped into one of the restaurants on the street for a traditional Georgian lunch, which was absolutely delicious, and they seem to be not over the flavors yet!

After lunch, they returned to Rike Park and took a cable car to Narikala Fortress. Barely a 2-3 minutes’ ride, but what a marvelous journey it was! The views of Mtkvari River, the Old Town, and everything around enroute was an unforgettable experience. After a quick tour of the hilltop fortress, they visited the statue of Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda), a 20-meter-tall figure made of aluminum.

The tour guide then took them to the National Botanical Garden of Georgia (formerly known as the Tbilisi Botanical Garden), located on the back side of the legendary statue. The garden is home to more than 3500 species of plants and seasonal flowers. And right in its heart stands a beautiful waterfall, which served as the perfect spot for a photo session.

From there, they were taken to Abanotubani in Old Town, which is popular for therapeutic sulfur baths from the 5th century. A special highlight I had arranged for the couple was a private soak in these hot spring pools, which my boss later described as an experience they will never forget. However, they could enjoy it for a short duration due to lack of time.

Without wasting much time, they made their way to Chonkadze Street and boarded a funicular train to Mtatsminda Park. Just a 5-minute drive, but the views along the way were spectacular. They went on the Giant Ferris Wheel, which left them with a spine-chilling sensation for a few minutes. The park’s observation deck gave the best view of the city, with the sun ready to go down. The iconic Tbilisi TV Tower also stands in the park. The couple grabbed some quick bites and drinks from a cafe within the amusement park before heading back to our hotel.

After a day full of exploration, relaxation, and fun, my boss and his wife returned to their premium accommodation in Tbilisi. Since it had been a busy and tiring day, both of them went to bed quickly to get a good sleep and charge up for the next day!

Day 3: A Day in Kakheti – Wine, History & Scenic View

Kakheti

I knew my boss and my wife appreciate good wine, and when in Georgia, visiting its vineyards is unmissable. So, Day 3 of the tour was all about Kakheti, heart of wine production in Georgia with about 70% of the country's vineyards.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, they dressed up in our comfy attires and proceeded to Kakheti in a private car. It took around 1.5 hours to arrive at the destination from Paragraph Freedom Square Luxury Collection Hotel in Tbilisi.

Their first stop was Bodbe Monastery, a hillside landmark dating to the 4th century. It is the burial site of the Georgia’s patroness, St. Nino. However, its original structure has undergone major evolution over the centuries. A visit to the monastery provided them with an insight into the religion and history of the region.

Not to forget the surroundings of the monastery – it looked like a scene from a movie. Lush, landscaped gardens with Cypress trees and flowers, the views of Caucasus Mountains, and clear, blue sky above – everything was so dreamy. There’s an observation deck on the eastern side of the monastery which offers spectacular views of the Alazani Valley.

Next, they drove through the scenic landscapes to reach Sighnaghi – the City of Love. It was just 10 minutes away from the monastery. Sighnaghi is a small town, but literally one of the most enchanting places they have seen over the years. Georgian architecture, romantic atmosphere, and natural beauty – it has everything.

The first thing to do in the city as per the itinerary was a climb up the Sighnaghi Wall. Located at the edge of the town, this defensive structure once signified the boundary of the town, but now only its remains are left. Stretching over 4 kilometers, the wall has 28 towers that connect Sighnaghi to 28 villages. “And the view from there cannot be put into words – absolutely breathtaking,” my boss told me.

I am sure it is. I did see the videos but what the human eye sees can never be captured by the camera.

Later in the afternoon, they started a journey back to Tbilisi. Upon arrival in the city, they visited the Chronicles of Georgia (also known as History Memorial of Georgia). It is a massive monument – about 30 metres tall – standing at the top of a hill near the Tbilisi Sea. It features pillars with sculptures that tell stories related to Jesus Christ, Georgian kings and queens, and important events in the history of Georgia.

From there, they enjoyed a short drive to the Old Town and took some time to explore its bustling streets. Then, they headed to a fancy restaurant for a traditional Georgian meal combined with some refreshing drinks.

At the end of the day, they returned to the hotel, which was not very far from the restaurant where they had their dinner. After some rest, they enjoyed scrolling through videos and photos of the day and went to bed.

Day 4: Kazbegi Calling – Where Mountains and Monasteries Await

Kazbegi

On the fourth day of holiday in Georgia, my boss and his wife enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at Paragraph Freedom Square Luxury Collection Hotel in Tbilisi.  With happy smiles and relaxed minds, they embarked on a tour to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), a beautiful town located in the northeastern part of the country.

The itinerary included a halt after a scenic drive of about 3.5 hours. Here, they took a quick tour of the Ananuri Complex (officially Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble). Overlooking Zhinvali Dam on the Aragvi River, this fortified landmark was once the residence of the Aragvi dynasty for many centuries. Inside the complex was a fortress, a bell tower, a watchtower, two churches, and other structures that were of importance to the former inhabitants.

Continuing their tour, they drove for 1.5 hours and stopped at Gudauri Panorama. This 19th-century landmark is basically a circular stone balcony hanging at a height of 600 meters from a cliff. It is also known as Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument, and offers panoramic views of Caucasus Mountains, valleys, and surrounding areas.

Upon arriving in Kazbegi, they first visited the Gergeti Trinity Church. The church is located on the slope of Mount Kazbek at 2170 metres above sea level. It is said to have been built in the 14th century, and is popular worldwide for its religious significance, architecture, and breathtaking surroundings. The photos he showed me of the place – totally postcard worthy!

After offering prayers at the church, they explored Kazbegi for some time and soaked in its scenic beauty. Since it was already evening, they started their journey back to Tbilisi for nightstay at their prebooked hotel.

Day 5: Exploring the Heart of Gori City

Gori City

The fifth day was a showstopper in the itinerary. The morning began with a scenic drive to Gori, located to the west of Tbilisi. I selected this town since my lady boss is interested in old world architecture, and I was well aware of it.

The first stop in the city was Joseph Stalin Museum, dedicated to Soviet politician and revolutionary Joseph Stalin who was born here. His well-preserved childhood home, personal items, artifacts, and photographs provided a glimpse into his life and Soviet era.

Following the museum visit, they ventured just outside the city to explore Uplistsikhe Cave Town, an ancient town known for its rock-hewn architecture. It is also known as the ‘Lord’s Fortress’ due to its significance as the prime political and religious center of ancient Georgia. Walking through the narrow streets and exploring the intricate structures took them back in time.

As the sun started to lower, they returned to Gori city and picked up some traditional souvenirs from the local market. The simplicity and slow-paced environment created a lasting impression on my boss and his wife. It was literally like finding calm away from chaos.

By late evening, they were back at their hotel in Tbilisi. After dinner, they went to bed reflecting on the stories of the day. When I spoke to my boss’s wife, she said it was her favorite stop of all in the itinerary. And I am glad that I did not skip it.

Day 6: Day Tour to Mtskheta and Borjomi

Mtskheta and Borjomi

After a peaceful night’s rest, the sixth day of Georgia holiday started with delicious breakfast at the hotel. After getting ready and packing all essentials, they departed for Mtskheta.

It was a 40-minute drive to Mtskheta, a historic city that once was the capital of Georgia. First, they visited the iconic Jvari Monastery. The monastery has also a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its religious significance, rich history, and hilltop architecture. The top of the hill offers views of the point where the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers meet to form one, which is absolutely breathtaking to watch.

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral was the next stop for the day, which is another UNESCO-listed landmark of historic and religious importance. The cathedral originally dates to the early 4th century but was completed in the 11th century. It is believed that the robe of Jesus Christ is buried at the church, which is why it is prominent pilgrimage site for Christians worldwide. I am glad that I included the landmark in the itinerary, because the wife of my boss was pleased to visit it.

Post a delightful cultural indulgence in Mtskheta, their journey resumed with a drive to Borjomi. It was a two-hour journey, which was filled with scenic views of villages and historical landmarks surrounded by mountains.

Upon arriving in the resort town, they visited Borjomi Central Park, which was packed with a little bit of everything that this spa town offers. Here, they enjoyed walking through the lush greenery, taking photos with the statue of Prometheus and the waterfall, and soaking in the serenity of the place. I had suggested they carry an empty bottle while visiting the park, just in case they would want to bring the therapeutic mineral water from Ekaterina Spring.

This small, picturesque town has left my boss, and his wife awestruck with its natural beauty, pleasant weather, and calming breeze. When I spoke to them after their return, they expressed how deeply they were willing to extend their stay in Borjomi. Shortly, they stepped out of the park and started their return journey to Tbilisi.

In 3.5 hours, they arrived at Paragraph Freedom Square Luxury Collection Hotel in Tbilisi. Along the way, they stopped for dinner at a local restaurant that served them home-like Georgian food. After arriving at the hotel, they enjoyed a conversation on how the last few days had just flown by.

Day 7: Departure Day – Goodbye, Georgia!

Departure Day

My boss shared that the last morning of Georgia tour began with mixed emotions – remorse of the trip being over but gratitude for all the adventures they got to experience throughout. After getting freshened up, they relished a delicious Georgian breakfast at the hotel.

After gathering their belongings, they proceeded to the reception for check out process. As per the flight schedule, the hotel staff arranged their transfer to Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) via a private vehicle.

They arrived at the airport in 30 minutes and headed straight for check-in formalities. Soon, they boarded a direct flight from Tbilisi to Abu Dhabi. Taking last views of Georgian land and cherishing the moments spent there, they bid farewell to the country saying, ‘until next time’!
